Arts Crafts Ideas
Arts crafts ideas are often difficult to come up with or are to
easy or hard for the children you are trying to do them with. Here at
creativecrafts4kids.com we have plenty of fun, easy, and age specific
crafts that kids loves and aren't hard to do right at home. We try to
find the best arts crafts ideas that use materials that are commonly found in your home. The art projects for kids on this page allow children of all ages to express their creativity. Buddies (ages 5+)Buddies
are lovable little friends that allow children to be creative and
unique while using scrap materials found in your home. For this craft you will need:
- A plastic sandwich bag
- Stuffing, cotton balls, or newspaper
- Various art supplies such as paper, ribbons, googly eyes, feathers, string, etc.
- Glue
- Tape
- Scissors
- Fill
a plastic sandwich bag with stuffing, cotton balls, or newspaper.
We found that if available, stuffing works best. If you are using
cotton balls, pull them apart for a little while to make them softer.
If you are using newspaper, you may wantto paint the plastic bag with acrylic paint if you do not want the newspaper to show through.
- Close the top of the bag.
- Decorate
the bag with various materials to make eyes (goggly eyes or eyes drawn
onto paper and cut out work well), a nose, and a mouth (string works
well) as well as various decorations. Don't be afraid to be creative
and use a wide variety of materials.

Cool Critters (ages 6+ with adult assistance) Cool Critter is a great arts crafts idea to do with more then one kid. This crafts does require some adult assistance.
For this crafts you need:
- Two bottom halves of an egg carton
- Glue
- 12 pairs of googly eyes
- Paintbrushes
- Tempera paint
- 12 pipe cleaners (assorted colors)
- Hole punch
- Feathers (optional)
- Smocks (suggested so paint doesn't get on clothes)
- Newspaper
- Cover your work area with newspaper.
- Take one of the egg carton bottoms and carefully cut out the twelve cups.
- Paint
the outside of the cups with the tempera paint. You should paint them a
bug color like green. If you want to make a lady bug, paint theoutside of the cup red and then wait for it do dry and paint the front black and add black spots. Feel free to make each critter a different color.
- Let dry.
- Glue on a pair of goggly eyes to each cup.
- Use the hole punch to punch a hole for the mouth at the edge of the carton.
- Using the hole punch, punch three holes on each side (the holes on each side should be directly across from one another).
- Cut the pipe cleaners into four inch sections.
- Take one pipe cleaner piece and push it through the hole on one side so it comes out of the hole on the other side.
- Repeat two more times.
- Fold down the pipe cleaners to make legs (the critter should have 6 legs all together).
- Make
two holes above the eyes to make antennae (have an adult use a push
pin, a sharp pencil, or poke it carefully with a scissor).
- Push a pipe cleaner through one hole or put a feather in each whole to make antennae.
- Make a house for the critters by taking the second carton bottom and pushing down the five dividers.
- Cut out strips of green paper and trim the top, bushing the "grass blades" in different directions.
- Glue the paper strips onto the carton.
- Place your critters on top.
Making
the house (steps 14-17) is optional but we suggest it because it is a
good place to keep your critters after you are done. Feel free to get
creative and make each critter unique. Have each person make their own
critter and see how different each person's comes out. Take our arts
crafts ideas and make them your own.
