your family. Decorate the crafts with your favorite team's colors and
logo and show your spirit.
Family Baseball Team (ages
9+)
For this craft you will need:
- A white asquare foam board
- Green, brown and white paint
- Pieces of a cork board
- 3 paintbrushes (one for each color)
- A wallet sized (or smaller) picture of each family member
- Stick-on letters
- A picture of a baseball diamond (for reference purposes)
(optional)
- Push pins
- Craft glue
- Paint the white foam board with the green paint. Let dry.
- Take
four pieces of cork board. Cut them until they are all squares of the
exact same size (this step requires adult supervision and/or
assistance).
- Cut a rectangele out of the cork board that is a drop
smaller then the squares.
- Paint all of the cork board pieces white. Let dry.
- Once the green paint has dried on the foam board turn the
board so it is in the shape of a diamond.
- Referring
to the picture of the baseball diamond, use the brown paint to paint
the dirt in the shape of a diamond to make the field. Don't forget to
paint a circle in the middle for the pitcher's mound.
- Once the brown paint and the cork board pieces are dry,
take the four white cork board square pieces and glue one to the spot
where home, first, second, and third base are with the craft
glue.
- Glue the rectangle white cork board piece to the pitcher's
mound.
- Let dry.
- Use the stick on letter to write "our baseball team" or
another phrase at the top of the field.
- Use
push pins to attach the family members to the cork board pieces putting
one picture on first, second, and third base and one on the pitchers
mound and one at home plate.
If you have more then five
family members you can also glue additional pictures to the outfield
and/or make someone a catcher behind home plate. We like to decorate
this project by putting a ribbon border around it using the colors of
our favorite team. We also like to use baseball themed stickers to
decorate the field.
Like-New Baseball (ages 5+)
For this craft you will need:
- A baseball (it may be new or used)
- Craft paint
- Paint brushes (one for each color you want to use)
- Newspaper
- Paint markers and stickers (optional)
Put
down newspaper to cover your workspace from the paint. Make sure your
baseball is fairly clean. Then you can either plan out a design and
color scheme for your baseball or just paint however you feel like. We
suggest picking two colors from your favorite baseball team then using
one color to repaint the ball and the other color to repaint the
stiching. It gives the ball a cool new look. You can also splatter
paint the baseball or paint the ball randomly with lots of different
colors. This is one of our more family friendly baseball crafts for
kids because everyone in your family can decorate their baseball
differently depending on their ablility and style. After the baseball
dries you may wish to decorate it with things like stickers or write on
it with paint markers. If you would like to use this craft for a
birthday party you could buy plastic, foam, or rubber balls that are
cheeper then baseballs and have every kid decorate one. The decorated
baseball makes a great decoration.

Baseballs for this craft, like the one above, can be purchased from
Birthday
In A Box.
