Egg Decorating
Egg decoration is a wonderful tradition and a great way to get everyone
in the family involved. Preparing the egg to be dyed and dying the egg
should be done with adult supervision/help. Before you begin you must:
- Hard-boil the eggs that you are going to dye.
- After letting eggs cool, shake each egg to break the yolk.
- Take one egg and use a small nail to poke a hole in the top
and the bottom of the egg.
- Blow gently until the egg is empty.
Please note that our easter kids crafts such as the eggs are delicate
and should be handled with care.
Rubber Band Egg
The Rubber Band method of dying the egg creates a very unique and
beautiful look.
For this craft you will need:
- A Hard-boiled egg
- Rubber bands
- Egg dye
- Paper towels
- Pasta tongs (optional)
1. Carefully wrap rubber bands around the egg until it is completely
cover.
2. Dip the egg into the dye. You may wish to hold the egg using pasta
tongs.
3. Take the egg out of the dye and blot it dry with a paper towel.
4. Carefully remove the rubber bands.
You may wish to repeat this process again with a new color.
Spotty Dotty Egg
This method of dying an egg is fun and easy. To make this crafts
easier, be sure your egg and egg dye are cooled.
For this craft you will need:
- A Hard-boiled egg
- Egg dye
- Stickers (paper reinforcements work best)
- Pasta tongs (optional)
1. Cover the egg with the stickers.
2. Dip the egg in the egg dye. You may wish to use pasta tongs to dip
the egg in the dye. Remove when the color is bright enough.
3. Let the egg dry.
4. Remove the stickers.
We suggest that instead of removing all the stickers (step 4), only
remove some of the sticker and then dye the egg in another color.
Therefore, not all your spots will be white.
Sponge-pattern Eggs
Sponge-painting gives everyone a chance to be creative and have fun.

1. Using the scissors, cut out shpaes from the kitchen sponge.
2. Dip a sponge piece in the paint, dab off the excess paint, and use
it to create patterns on the egg.
3. Reapeat with other colors. For the best results, use a new sponge
piece for each color.
