Everyone enjoys holiday decorations you made yourself.
For this project you will need:
- A toilet paper tube
- Crepe paper
- A scissor
- A pencil
- Glue
- A string
- A mini American flag (the flag must be small enough to fit in the toilet paper tube)
1. With your pencil, trace the toilet paper tube on a piece of crepe paper twice.
2. Draw two larger circles; one around each of the smaller circles.
3. Cut out around the larger circles.
4. Tie a string around the end of the small flag.
5.
With your pencil, poke a hole in the center of one of the circles and
put the end of the string that is not attached to the flag through it
and glue it in place.
6. Glue the other circle around one end of the toilet paper tube.
7.
Place the flag in the tube and glue the circle it is attached to on the
end of the toilet paper tube that does not already have a circle on it.
8.
With your scissors, cut out a strip of crepe paper that is long enough
to cover the entire toilet paper tube and glue it on.9. Decorate the
tube however you like.
10. Give your creation to someone and ask them to pull the string for a surprise.
The flag can also be substituted for a small plastic animal or another object small enough to fit in the tube.
For this project you will need:
- Red, white, and blue construction paper
- Scissors
- Glue
1.
With the scissors, cut out 13 small stars out of the white paper. The
stars must all fit on one fourth of the construction paper. For
this kids Fourth of July craft, your final project should look like the
American flag. If you are unsure about where to place each of your cut
out items refer to a picture of an American flag. This is also helpful
to younger children making this craft. If you wish, you may want to
attach a long stick to the back of your flag so you can hold or display
it. In addition, you may wish to cut out 50 stars instead but it is
hard to fit them all on the square. We suggest if you want fifty stars,
to use star stickers.
2. With
the scissors, cut out six white strips. Three of the strips must be the
length of the blue construction paper and three must be half the length.
3.
Repeat step number two with the red paper but cut out four strips that
are half the length of the blue construction paper instead of three.
4.
Glue one of the half length red strips onto the top right of the blue
construction paper and then glue one white half length strip directly
underneath it.
5. Continue gluing all seven half length strips in
the order of red then white. After gluing all the smaller strips you
should end up with a red small strip left in the pattern.
6. Underneath the small red strip continue gluing the large strips strips in the order white then red.
7. On the blue square that is left in the top left corner, glue on the stars
